The Art of Jigsaw Lino Printing
Work with Associate Artist Heidi Sharp to piece together prints using a puzzle of lino. Carve intricate designs into individual lino blocks, assembling to form a larger image.
How does it work?
- Design and carve: a design is drawn onto a lino block and carved with tools.
- Jigsaw the block: the block is cut into smaller pieces, each representing a different colour.
- Ink and assemble: each piece is inked and reassembled to form the complete design.
- Print: the inked block is pressed onto paper to create a beautiful print.
By breaking down the design into smaller pieces, artists can achieve intricate details, multiple colours, and complex patterns that would be difficult to achieve with traditional lino printing techniques.
