‘Making with Friends’
Makerspace Group Sessions

Celebrate a birthday or mark a special occasion. From pot throwing and hand building to lino cutting and screen printing, book a private print or clay session for an unforgettable gathering with friends.

    • Sessions available Saturdays from 4pm to 7pm (at Colchester Makerspace)

    • Suitable for all skill levels

    • Workshop duration is three hours

    • Maximum capacity is up to eight participants

    • Fee includes all materials

    • Each attendee will take home either two fired clay pieces (after kiln firing) or two prints

    • Participants must be aged 18 or over

    • Total cost: £400

    Post session dinner available with Patch next door. You’ll have 10% discount (payable separately after booking).

    • Sessions available from 10am to 4pm (at Cuckoo Farm, Colchester)

    • Suitable for all skill levels

    • Workshop duration is six hours (class takes place outside)

    • Maximum capacity is up to six participants

    • Participants can bring their own work or we can supply some (around 3-5 pieces per person)

    • Please note that the process has limits in terms of object size and suits objects that are not too big. A size of 200mm height standard vase form is approximately the largest that can be managed safely

    • Each attendee will take home a minimum of two pieces

    • Participants must be aged 18 or over

    • Total cost: £750

Pot Throwing

Linocutting

Guided by our Associate Artist, Heidi Sharp, you’ll delve into the intricate world of linocut printmaking. Discover the satisfaction of carving your unique design into linoleum. Experience the thrill of creating your own prints and enjoy this meditative artistic process. A workshop that’s the perfect blend of tradition and creativity.


Risograph Printing

A unique, eco-friendly method that blends digital precision with analog charm. Create layered, vibrant prints using soy-based inks for a sustainable art form with bold and beautiful results. Led by our skilled Associate Artist, Heidi Sharp, this super-inspiring workshop offers a fully hands-on experience in innovative printmaking.

Clay Hand-Building

Embrace the art of ceramics and craft stunning pieces from clay. Familiarise yourself with this versatile medium and master hand-building techniques to manipulate clay’s form and texture. Our Associate Artist, Harriet Caslin, will introduce you to the sensory joy of hand-building, where your creativity knows no bounds.


Screen Printing

Step into a world where colour meets design. Under the expert guidance of our Associate Artist, Katie Kennedy, you’ll learn the secrets of screen printing that artists have used for decades. From cutting stencils to pushing ink through meticulously prepared screens. Watch your unique vision come to life on fabric or paper.


Raku Session

This ancient Japanese craft, renowned for its meditative qualities, is presented in a contemporary western style. Participants will experience the thrill of removing pottery from a 1000°C kiln and engaging in a post-firing process that creates a unique reduction atmosphere. A very popular day out for ceramics enthusiasts at all skill levels.


Add Dinner With Patch

Enhance your experience with delicious food and drink. Our Making With Friends sessions have the option of adding a post-workshop dinner. Join Patch (next to the Makerspace) for a seasonal evening menu served in the fantastic surroundings of their plant-led restaurant.
